Saint Lucia Catamaran Tour

A Saint Lucia catamaran tour runs down the scenic west coast from Rodney Bay to the Pitons, with stops for snorkelling, a Piton-base beach break, lunch onboard, and a relaxed return sail. The full-day version takes six to seven hours; shorter afternoon and sunset cruises are also available. The boats are wide, stable, and built for lounging — more floating living room than racing yacht.

Why Sail the West Coast?

Saint Lucia’s west coast is the leeward side, which means calm water, steady breeze, and the best views of the Pitons from sea level.

What a Full-Day Sail Covers

Departure from Rodney Bay

Boarding runs 8:30-9:00 a.m. at the Rodney Bay Marina or, for cruise guests, directly from Castries. Coffee and fruit usually greet you on arrival. The crew briefs on safety, points out the bar, and casts off.

First Snorkelling Stop

An hour south, the boat anchors at Anse Cochon or Marigot Bay for an initial swim. Fins, masks, and snorkels come from the boat’s gear locker.

Pitons Approach

After snorkel stop one, the catamaran continues south with the Pitons growing on the horizon. The crew slows the boat as you pass between them — the best photo stretch of the day.

Anse Chastanet Beach Stop

A long anchor at Anse Chastanet lets you swim, snorkel the reef (turtles and trumpetfish are common), or walk to the beach bar. Lunch — usually grilled fish or chicken, Caribbean rice, fresh salads, and plantain — is served onboard.

Return and Sunset

Wind-driven sails back north, rum punches flowing, music on. The later afternoon light on the west coast is spectacular. You dock back at Rodney Bay around 4:00-4:30 p.m.

Sunset Cruise Option

If a full day feels like too much sun, a Saint Lucia sunset cruise runs 2-3 hours from Rodney Bay with cocktails, light bites, and a loop past Pigeon Island. Good for couples on a honeymoon or guests arriving late in the afternoon.

Pairing with Other Tours

A catamaran day covers the coast. Pair it with a Soufrière land day for a complete north-south island view, or add a dedicated snorkeling trip if reef time is the priority.

Planning Notes

Bring swimwear, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen (reapply every hour on the water), a hat, sunglasses with a strap, and a light layer for the return sail. Seasickness is rare on the leeward side, but bring a patch or pill if you’re prone. Dietary restrictions should be noted at booking — crews accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free with notice. Children of all ages are welcome; life jackets are on board for every size.
